“Helix Fairyland” explores the refinement of natural biological structures through parametric modelling to create an immersive digital world. It blends elements from nature, such as spiral forms, into a digital environment designed to evoke a sense of fantasy and adventure.
Helix Fairyland”通过参数化建模对自然生物结构进行精炼,旨在创造一个沉浸式的数字世界。它将自然界中的螺旋形态等元素融入数字环境,唤起一种幻想和冒险的感觉。
The design focuses on creating a visual and interactive experience using parametric structures like spirals, thorns, and crystals. The final output includes 3D renderings, animations, and a game-like environment that invites users into a fantastical world filled with unique architectural forms.
设计重点是通过螺旋、荆棘和水晶等参数化结构创造视觉和互动体验。最终输出包括3D渲染、动画以及类似游戏的环境,将用户引入一个充满独特建筑形式的奇幻世界。
My Contribution我的贡献
I was in charge of visual concept extraction, most of the parametric modelling, visual booklet design, and Unity material rendering. My partner focused on storyline development, video creation, sound design, and a small portion of parametric modelling.

In this project, the integration of Rhino and Grasshopper plays a crucial role in the technical execution of complex parametric designs. Grasshopper, as a visual programming extension of Rhino, enables the manipulation of parametric curves and forms, facilitating the automated generation of organic and repetitive structures such as spirals and waves. This combination allows designers to iterate rapidly, adjust shapes dynamically, and meet specific design objectives with precision. Rhino, as the primary 3D modelling platform, supports detailed surface modelling and parametric design, ensuring control from initial concept to final prototype. The use of Rhino and Grasshopper together creates an efficient and flexible workflow for creating highly intricate models, from wearable garments to immersive digital landscapes.

The renderings leverage Unity’s rendering and lighting effects, combined with spatial audio, to create an immersive experience. The realistic lighting and dynamic shadows bring depth and atmosphere to the scene, while spatial audio enhances the sense of presence. The first-person perspective offers a more engaging and lifelike interaction, allowing viewers to experience the virtual environment as if they were truly within it.

Prior to the Helix Fairyland project, the team worked on a wearable design called “Khloris.” This project explored the fusion of Rococo aesthetics with futuristic design elements, focusing on creating a sleek, parametric garment inspired by natural forms like waterlilies and spirals. Using advanced tools like Rhino and Grasshopper, the project achieved a balance between luxurious details and modern minimalism.
